Imposing Family Members

Slightly related to the theme of evil relative inasmuch as imposing family members tend to be seen as meddlesome and ununderstanding, wanting to force their own mind on the young ones.  However, their intentions are not always bad, they often may think they are doing what’s best for the kids or want to protect them.  Other times,  a drama  that fits this category will focus around a conflict or mistakes committed by the previous generation, so it may include the ghostly presence of such figures-who may either really return to make sure the children are all righ (because they are regretful) or simply the mere knowledge of their parents’ past imposes some beaviours on a character; This theme is particulary valid for period pieces, where obedience is the most obvious rule. In standard romcoms, this may mean, for instance, arranged marriage.
